The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Musibau Adekunle Asafa, has passed away after battling a prolonged illness. His death was confirmed today by officials of the council and members of his family. He was 54.
Hon. Asafa was a dedicated public servant who served the people of Oto-Awori with distinction, compassion, and unwavering commitment. Throughout his tenure, he was known for his grassroots-oriented leadership, developmental initiatives, and efforts to improve the welfare of residents across all sectors, including education, healthcare, and local infrastructure.
Reacting to the sad news, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, described Hon. Asafa’s passing as a monumental loss to Lagos State. “Hon. Musibau Asafa was a devoted leader whose impact on community development will be remembered for years to come. His integrity, hard work, and service to the people of Oto-Awori LCDA set a standard for public office holders,” the governor said.
In 2023, Hon. Asafa was lauded for implementing economic relief initiatives, including financial support to hundreds of local households during difficult times. He was also recognized by the Lagos State Coconut Development Authority (LASCODA) for pioneering job creation through coconut-based small businesses, showcasing his innovative approach to empowering youth and women.
