The Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC), Mr. Agena, has called on Governor Hyacinth Alia to stop attributing the ongoing violence in Benue State to "Abuja politicians" and instead take decisive action to end the killings.
In a strongly worded statement, Mr. Agena emphasized that the security of Benue residents is the primary responsibility of the state government. He urged Governor Alia to focus on implementing effective security measures rather than shifting blame.
"The people of Benue deserve peace and stability. It is unacceptable for the governor to continue blaming external forces while innocent lives are lost. Leadership demands accountability, and Governor Alia must rise to the occasion," Agena stated.
The AAC Chairman further called for a comprehensive security strategy, including collaboration with federal authorities and local communities, to address the root causes of the violence. He stressed that political rhetoric should not overshadow the urgent need for action.
Governor Alia has previously condemned the killings and assured residents that his administration is working with national security agencies to develop a strategic plan to end the violence. However, critics argue that more proactive measures are needed to protect lives and property.
Mr. Agena reaffirmed the AAC's commitment to advocating for justice and security in Benue State, urging all stakeholders to prioritize the safety of citizens over political narratives.
