President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to restoring security across Nigeria, declaring that advanced technology will play a pivotal role in reclaiming the nation's forests from the grip of terrorists and criminal elements.
Speaking during a high-level security briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that the government is deploying cutting-edge surveillance systems, drones, and satellite intelligence to detect, deter, and dismantle terrorist networks hiding in the country’s vast forested regions.
“Our forests must no longer serve as safe havens for terrorists, kidnappers, and bandits,” Tinubu stated. “With technology as our ally, we will track them, confront them, and take back every inch of Nigerian soil.”
He emphasized that modern warfare requires more than boots on the ground, pointing to the importance of data-driven intelligence, real-time monitoring, and coordinated operations supported by artificial intelligence and digital mapping tools.
The President revealed that partnerships are already in place with international defense technology providers, and that local innovators are also being engaged to develop homegrown solutions tailored to Nigeria’s security landscape.
This strategic pivot to technology-led counterterrorism, he noted, is part of the larger national security agenda, which includes reforms in the military, expanded training for security personnel, and increased collaboration among security agencies.
“We will not allow terror to define our future. The Nigerian people deserve peace, and we will deliver it with resolve, innovation, and action,” Tinubu assured.
