The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has officially placed Nigerian entertainer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, on its international watchlist following his failure to respond to multiple summonses regarding serious allegations, including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
The decision comes after a viral video surfaced in which the singer allegedly confessed to engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl. Despite being invited for questioning on several occasions, Mr. Okoye failed to appear, prompting the agency to escalate the matter.
“We have followed all legal procedures, including obtaining a court order to place him on the watchlist,” said Vincent Adekoye, NAPTIP’s Chief Press Officer. “We are collaborating with the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and Interpol to ensure he is located and brought in for questioning.”
NAPTIP has also announced that it is considering a ₦50 million bounty for credible information leading to Mr. Okoye’s apprehension.
In response, Speed Darlington has publicly denied any wrongdoing, claiming the allegations are baseless and accusing the agency of seeking social media attention. He has demanded a ₦2.5 million “appearance fee” to honor any invitation, further complicating the situation.
NAPTIP urges the public to remain vigilant and report any information regarding Mr. Okoye’s whereabouts. “This is not a matter of celebrity or clout—it is a matter of justice and accountability,” Adekoye emphasized..
