The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of the results for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit. Alongside the results, JAMB has revealed disturbing findings of systemic examination malpractice, with over 3,000 candidates implicated in fraudulent activities.

The resit examination was conducted for candidates affected by technical disruptions and verified complaints during the main UTME held in April 2025. However, forensic analysis of biometric data and CBT centre surveillance footage unearthed an alarming pattern of impersonation, multiple registrations, and coordinated cheating networks.

Candidates attempted to circumvent biometric verification systems by registering with multiple identities or using third-party impersonators.

Hundreds of candidates were found to have registered for the UTME using different credentials in an effort to boost their chances.

JAMB exposed networks of paid “runs” services operating on social media platforms and messaging apps, offering fraudulent exam support.

In connection with these discoveries, several CBT centres were identified as complicit in aiding and abetting fraud. These centres have been delisted, and their operators are under investigation.

JAMB, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, has commenced the interrogation and prosecution of suspects, including candidates, parents, and centre administrators. The Board has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice and has pledged to pursue every legal avenue to ensure accountability.

Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, emphasized the Board’s unwavering commitment to fairness and integrity, "We will continue to deploy cutting-edge technology and intelligence to protect the credibility of our examinations. The future of our youth must not be compromised by the actions of a dishonest few."
