Counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has voiced strong concerns regarding the recent technical glitches that affected candidates from the South-East and Lagos during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Ejiofor has alleged that the failures were not coincidental but rather indicative of a broader systemic issue that disproportionately impacted these regions.

In a statement released earlier today, Ejiofor emphasized that while the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has acknowledged errors in the examination process, the pattern of disruptions raises troubling questions about potential regional disenfranchisement. He called for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s educational institutions to restore public trust and ensure fairness in national examinations.

“The recent controversies surrounding the 2025 UTME results and the acknowledged technical glitches reveal a more disturbing reality: a systemic dysfunction that continues to produce avoidable casualties,” Ejiofor stated. “Notably, the states most affected by these ‘technical issues’ were those in the Southeast and Lagos. This pattern raises troubling questions. It seems less of a coincidence and more of a deliberate act of regional disenfranchisement, especially when viewed against the backdrop of growing political intolerance and exclusionary tactics.
