National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described the recent wave of defections from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “the highest level of betrayal,” condemning the actions as a calculated attempt to destabilize the party's momentum ahead of key elections.

Speaking during a press briefing in Kano on Friday, Kwankwaso expressed profound disappointment in former allies and party members who, in his words, “chose personal gain over national interest.” The former Kano State governor emphasized that the defections were not a surprise but a reflection of weak political values among some individuals.

“This is not just about party politics; it is about loyalty, integrity, and the future of Nigeria’s democracy,” Kwankwaso stated. “What we have witnessed is the highest level of betrayal — people who benefited from the NNPP platform now turning their backs on the very ideals they once professed.”

He further alleged that the defections are being orchestrated and incentivized by rival political forces threatened by the NNPP’s growing influence across the country, particularly in the North-West region.

Kwankwaso reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the NNPP and building a political structure rooted in transparency, inclusiveness, and service to the people. He urged party faithful and supporters not to be discouraged but rather to see this moment as a test of the party's resilience.

“The NNPP will emerge stronger,” he assured. “We remain the hope for millions of Nigerians seeking genuine change. No amount of betrayal will derail our vision.”
