The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media personality and activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, following a series of petitions received by the Commission alleging criminal conduct.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the activist was taken into custody in Abuja over the weekend. His arrest is linked to multiple petitions accusing him of cyberstalking, criminal defamation, and other alleged violations under Nigeria's cybercrime and penal laws.
“The Commission acted on credible information and formal complaints brought forward by several individuals and organizations,” Oyewale stated. “Investigations are ongoing, and Mr. Otse will be charged to court as soon as they are concluded.”
VeryDarkMan, known for his outspoken presence on social media and criticism of public figures, has previously courted controversy online. His arrest has sparked mixed reactions across digital platforms, with supporters calling for transparency and due process.
