In a shocking development that raises serious concerns about political intimidation and the abuse of state power, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Isah, has allegedly been detained by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) while undergoing medical treatment at a private hospital in Abuja.

According to sources close to the student leader, the DSS moved in shortly after Comrade Isah made explosive allegations against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of offering a N100 million bribe in exchange for student union support for controversial government policies. The bribe was reportedly rejected by Isah, who subsequently went public with the information, triggering what is now being described as a politically-motivated crackdown.

Insiders report that during his hospital stay, Isah was forcibly removed from care, isolated by DSS officers, and pressured to recant his statement. Disturbingly, photos have surfaced allegedly showing Isah being made to pose with a firearm—a move believed to be a staged attempt at blackmail and character assassination.

“This is an outrageous violation of human rights and a threat to democracy,” said a senior NANS official who requested anonymity. “Atiku is being punished for standing up against corruption. Now, they want to silence him and tarnish his image through intimidation.”

Multiple civil society organizations have condemned the DSS's actions, demanding Isah’s immediate release and an independent investigation into the bribery allegations and subsequent detention.
