In a decisive move to ensure the effective management of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Abdullahi Saleh-Usman, to adopt a more inclusive leadership style. The Vice President emphasized the importance of collaboration and transparency in the administration of the commission, urging Professor Saleh-Usman to refrain from operating as a sole administrator.

This directive comes amidst growing concerns from stakeholders and board members regarding the leadership approach within NAHCON. Reports have highlighted allegations of exclusion from key decision-making processes, including pre-Hajj visits, procurement activities, and the selection of service providers. These concerns were formally presented to the Vice President in a petition signed by representatives from various geopolitical zones and Islamic organizations.

Vice President Shettima underscored the critical role of NAHCON in ensuring a seamless Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims. He stated, "The success of the Hajj exercise depends on the collective efforts of all stakeholders. It is imperative that the commission operates in a manner that fosters unity, accountability, and shared responsibility."

In response to the allegations, Professor Saleh-Usman has defended his leadership, asserting that all activities within the commission adhere to established regulations. However, the Vice President's intervention signals a commitment to addressing these issues and restoring confidence among stakeholders.
