Students of the University of Port Harcourt (Uniport) have taken to the streets in a peaceful protest, demanding justice for Akpakpan, a 300-level undergraduate who was allegedly killed by police officers under controversial circumstances.

The tragic incident has sparked outrage across the university community, with students and faculty members expressing their grief and calling for accountability. Witnesses claim that Akpakpan, a promising student with a bright future, was fatally injured during an encounter with law enforcement.

In response to the incident, the Students' Union Government (SUG) of Uniport has issued a statement condemning the alleged actions of the police and calling for an independent investigation. "We will not rest until justice is served for Akpakpan and his family," said the SUG President.

The protest, which began on campus, has drawn attention from local and national media, as well as human rights organizations. Demonstrators are urging the government to ensure transparency in the investigation and to hold those responsible accountable Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. However, community leaders and activists are calling for calm while investigations are underway.
