The Oyo State Police Command has successfully apprehended nine suspects linked to the tragic killing of Madam Rachael Bamidele, a septuagenarian, and the destruction of properties worth millions of naira in Aagba community, Surulere Local Government Area. The incident, which occurred on April 5, 2025, stemmed from a long-standing land dispute between neighboring communities.

The attack resulted in the burning and looting of nine houses, forcing many residents to flee their homes. Victims were reportedly targeted due to their involvement in ongoing civil litigation over the disputed land. Among the arrested suspects is Salawudeen Ismaila, aged 33, from Oko community. Investigations also led to the recovery of three unregistered Boxer motorcycles.

In response to the crisis, the Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Adenola, deployed specialized intelligence and tactical units, including PMF officers, to restore order and ensure the safety of displaced villagers. The swift action allowed residents to return to their homes and resume daily activities without fear of harassment or intimidation.

The Oyo State Police Command reiterates its zero-tolerance stance on violence and assures the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property through lawful and proactive policing. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects still at large.
