The Labour Party faction led by Julius Abure has issued a stern warning to the party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the party's governorship candidate for Abia State, Alex Otti, regarding their participation in an upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which the faction deems illegal.

In a statement released today, the Abure-led faction described the NEC meeting, which is set to be held at an undisclosed location, as a violation of the party’s constitution and a direct challenge to the authority of the duly elected leadership.

The faction emphasizes that only the legitimate leadership of the Labour Party, headed by Julius Abure, has the authority to convene the NEC, and any meeting organized by those outside this framework would be considered unconstitutional and illegal.

“Peter Obi and Alex Otti must immediately desist from associating with this unauthorized NEC meeting,” said the statement. “We have already taken the necessary legal steps to ensure that the party remains on the path of unity, progress, and transparency. Any attempt to subvert the party’s constitution will be met with appropriate legal action.”

The faction has called on all Labour Party members, supporters, and stakeholders to remain steadfast in support of the legitimate leadership, while also urging the public to refrain from attending the illegal meeting. The Abure-led faction asserts that any attempt to destabilize the party will only undermine its credibility and its ability to effectively represent the interests of its supporters.
