Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been granted bail in the sum of ₦1 million by the Upper Area Court in Ilorin. This decision follows his arraignment on charges including criminal defamation, intimidation, inciting public disturbance, and cyberstalking.
The court stipulated strict bail conditions, requiring two sureties in like sum. One must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), while the other must own a landed property in a Government Reserved Area (GRA), backed by a valid Certificate of Occupancy.
The charges stem from allegations made by fellow artist Okunola Saheed Osupa, who filed a petition on March 21, 2025. Osupa accused Portable of defaming him during a live Instagram broadcast on March 19, 2025, where Portable allegedly made derogatory remarks aimed at tarnishing Osupa's reputation.
The case has been adjourned, with the trial judge urging all parties to maintain decorum as proceedings continue.
