The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has strongly criticized the recent coalition talks among opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing the move as a “joint venture bound to fail.”
Reacting to reports of renewed political alliances aimed at unseating the ruling APC in 2027, Ganduje said the coalition is a desperate and recycled attempt by habitual contenders who have repeatedly failed to earn the trust of Nigerians.
"This is nothing but a gathering of serial contestants and professional politicians whose only unifying agenda is their personal ambition, not the welfare of the Nigerian people," Ganduje stated. “They have no ideological unity, no policy direction, and certainly no capacity to present a credible alternative to the APC.”
Ganduje noted that similar attempts at coalition-building in the past had collapsed under the weight of conflicting interests, ego clashes, and lack of coherence.
“These coalitions are like political Ponzi schemes – they come with big promises and end in disappointment. Nigerians are wiser now and will not fall for the same script rewritten with new cast members,” he said.
The APC chairman reaffirmed the party’s commitment to delivering on its Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He emphasized that while the APC remains open to constructive dialogue, it will not be distracted by what he described as “media-driven political theatrics.”
