The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, has reacted sharply to the recent political developments involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing his latest maneuver as yet another sign of political desperation and failure.

Responding to the news of fresh defections and alignments led or influenced by the former PDP presidential candidate, Onanuga remarked that “Atiku is a loser again — not just at the polls, but in moral authority and strategic relevance.”

“Each election cycle, Atiku Abubakar returns to Nigerians with the same old rhetoric and recycled tactics. His political journey has been defined more by personal ambition than national interest. This latest defection saga only reinforces what Nigerians already know — that Atiku is more interested in power than principle,” Onanuga said.

He criticized the former vice president’s role in the fragmentation of opposition politics, stating that Atiku’s actions have historically weakened rather than strengthened the democratic process.

“Atiku’s politics of convenience has again led to fragmentation and distrust among opposition ranks. His inability to unite even his closest allies speaks volumes. Nigerians deserve a leader with vision and consistency — not one whose political compass shifts with every election season,” Onanuga added.
