In a recent statement, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, expressed concern over the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, claiming that Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his associates are now facing severe health consequences, particularly high blood pressure, due to the mounting pressure from the situation.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, alluded to the intense political dynamics and challenges Governor Fubara is encountering in managing the state amidst a turbulent political environment. He noted that the high level of stress and the inability to effectively address the issues at hand were taking a toll on the governor's well-being and that of his close associates.

“The situation in Rivers has become untenable, and it is no longer just a political issue,” Wike said during a media briefing. “The pressure is mounting so high that even Governor Fubara and his associates are now grappling with serious health issues, including high blood pressure. It’s a reflection of the failure to manage the crisis adequately.”

Wike further emphasized that the current administration in Rivers State must find a way to de-escalate the situation and prioritize the health and well-being of its leaders to avoid further repercussions. He also called for more responsible leadership to address the various challenges facing the state, including economic instability, security concerns, and governance failures.

The FCT Minister’s comments come amid heightened tensions in Rivers State, with ongoing disputes over political power and governance issues, including leadership transitions and resource management.
