The Oyo State Government has officially commenced the distribution of bursary payments to 2,950 students across various tertiary institutions in the state. This initiative is part of the government’s continued commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and supporting the academic success of students within Oyo State.

The bursary, which aims to alleviate the financial burden of students pursuing higher education, covers a wide range of disciplines, including science, arts, engineering, and humanities. The recipients were selected based on academic performance and financial need, ensuring that those who require assistance the most benefit from this initiative.

Governor Seyi Makinde, in a statement on the commencement of the bursary payment, expressed his administration's dedication to promoting education as a key driver for the state's socio-economic development.

“We are thrilled to roll out this bursary payment, a testament to our ongoing effort to invest in the future of Oyo State. Education is the cornerstone of development, and by providing financial support to students, we are helping to build a stronger, more prosperous Oyo,” Governor Makinde stated.

The bursary payment is part of a broader educational reform strategy, which includes scholarships, infrastructure development, and partnerships with universities to improve the quality of education in the state. Oyo State plans to expand the initiative further, reaching even more students in future cohorts.

Beneficiaries have expressed their gratitude for the financial relief, with many stating that the bursary would help cover their tuition and other academic-related expenses. This timely support is seen as a significant step toward empowering students and ensuring they are equipped to succeed academically without undue financial stress.
