The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern warning to a corps member in Lagos State after a viral video surfaced online in which the individual referred to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “terrible” president.
In the video, which quickly gained traction on social media platforms, the corps member, whose identity has yet to be officially confirmed, expressed dissatisfaction with the current administration. The clip sparked an intense public reaction, with many condemning the comments as disrespectful and inappropriate for a government employee, especially one in a youth service program designed to foster national unity and patriotism.
The NYSC, in a statement released earlier today, condemned the comments made by the corps member, emphasizing that such statements were contrary to the ideals of the service, which promotes discipline, respect for authority, and national cohesion. The statement further warned that the corps member’s actions may lead to severe disciplinary actions, including possible termination from the NYSC program, should investigations confirm that the individual in the video is indeed a participant of the scheme.
"The National Youth Service Corps is committed to ensuring that its members uphold the highest standards of conduct, respect for the office of the president, and the Nigerian Constitution. The video in question is a clear violation of these values, and appropriate measures will be taken to address the matter," the NYSC said in the statement.
