The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ododo, has announced a statewide ban on all public gatherings and convoy movements in preparation for the homecoming of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a prominent political figure in the state. This measure, effective immediately, aims to maintain law and order and ensure public safety ahead of the highly anticipated event.

In a statement released by the Governor’s office, Governor Ododo emphasized that the decision was made to safeguard the well-being of all citizens and avoid unnecessary disruptions within the state. The ban applies to both political and non-political gatherings and is expected to last until the official homecoming event of Senator Natasha, which has drawn significant public interest.

“We understand the excitement surrounding Senator Natasha’s homecoming, but our primary concern remains the safety and security of the people of Kogi State,” said Governor Ododo. “In light of the current security situation, we are taking necessary steps to avoid congestion and potential conflict that could arise from large crowds and excessive convoy movements.”

The Governor further stated that security personnel would be deployed across key areas to monitor compliance with the restrictions and ensure smooth movement within Lokoja and other towns. In addition, all individuals planning to attend the homecoming event are encouraged to follow all instructions from local authorities.

Senator Natasha’s homecoming is expected to be a major political milestone, as her supporters have been eagerly anticipating her return after her successful tenure in the Senate. While the homecoming celebration remains on schedule, the Governor has urged citizens to respect the temporary restrictions in place and remain vigilant.
