The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has officially declared Mr. Ude Okoye as the authentic National Secretary of the party, amid ongoing internal disputes and tensions within the party leadership.

In a decisive statement issued earlier today, the BoT, the highest advisory body within the PDP, reaffirmed its unwavering support for Mr. Okoye, following recent claims to the contrary from certain factions within the party. The decision comes as the party faces a crisis that has resulted in confusion and division over the rightful leadership of key positions within its hierarchy.

According to the statement, Mr. Ude Okoye has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the ideals of the PDP, ensuring the party remains focused on its mission of serving the people and advancing democratic values. The BoT expressed confidence in his ability to lead the party’s secretariat at a time when it is essential to restore unity, strengthen internal structures, and work towards a successful electoral future.

"The Board of Trustees, as the custodian of the party’s principles and guiding force in matters of leadership, has carefully reviewed the situation and stands resolutely behind Mr. Ude Okoye as the rightful National Secretary of the PDP," the statement read. "This declaration is in accordance with the party's constitution and will help ensure the continuation of the PDP’s mission to bring about a progressive and people-centered Nigeria."

The leadership crisis within the PDP emerged after conflicting claims over the rightful occupant of the National Secretary position, which led to multiple factions within the party. However, the BoT’s intervention aims to put an end to the disagreements and maintain the unity of the party ahead of the 2025 elections.

Mr. Okoye, a seasoned party member, has expressed his gratitude for the confidence placed in him by the BoT and reiterated his commitment to working in harmony with all party stakeholders, ensuring that the PDP remains a formidable force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
