The Lagos Magistrate Court has officially cleared popular Nigerian artist Naira Marley, socialite Sam Larry, and associate Primeboy in connection with the tragic death of rising star Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba).
After extensive deliberation and review of the evidence presented, the court concluded that there was insufficient proof to hold the three individuals responsible for the untimely death of the 27-year-old musician, who passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances.
Naira Marley, the CEO of Marlian Records, had been accused of being involved in a dispute with Mohbad that allegedly led to the singer's death. Sam Larry, a well-known figure in the Nigerian entertainment scene, and Primeboy, an associate of both Marley and Mohbad, were also implicated in various claims surrounding the events leading up to Mohbad's demise.
The court's ruling comes after months of investigation and public outcry, with many demanding justice for the late artist. However, the prosecution was unable to provide substantial evidence linking the accused parties to any criminal activity in relation to Mohbad's death.
In his statement, Naira Marley expressed relief over the ruling and reiterated his commitment to the wellbeing of his fans, family, and colleagues in the music industry. "I have always been passionate about the growth and development of young artists in the Nigerian music scene, and my focus will remain on nurturing talent and promoting peace," he said.
Mohbad's fans and supporters, while disheartened by the court's decision, continue to demand further investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death. Advocacy groups and the public have urged the authorities to remain vigilant in seeking justice for the late artist, stressing that transparency and accountability are paramount.
