In a remarkable display of endurance and determination, Kenyan athlete Edwin Kibet has made history by winning the 2025 Lagos City Marathon, securing his second consecutive victory after claiming the title in the 2023 edition. Kibet’s extraordinary performance has once again put him at the forefront of international long-distance racing.


The 2025 race, which attracted thousands of elite athletes from around the globe, saw Kibet dominate the 42.195-kilometer course, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:08:34, narrowly edging out his closest competitors. The win solidified his place as one of the most promising marathoners of his generation, further cementing his legacy in the marathon world.


Kibet's triumph follows his victory in the 2023 Lagos City Marathon, where he made a name for himself by setting a blistering pace and showcasing his tactical expertise in the final stages of the race. His success in back-to-back years highlights his remarkable consistency and resilience.
