Kano State Government Approves Payment of Nine-Month Salary Arrears for Sanitation Workers

The Kano State Government has announced the approval of the long-awaited nine-month salary arrears payment for its sanitation workers, addressing a significant backlog and ensuring that employees in the sector receive their earned wages.


This crucial step follows extensive discussions between government officials and sanitation workers' unions, who have expressed concerns about the delay in their payments. The decision to settle the arrears is expected to boost morale among the workers, who have remained dedicated to maintaining the state's cleanliness and public health.


In his statement, emphasized the government's commitment to the welfare of its workers and the importance of ensuring timely payments for services rendered. “Sanitation workers play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety of our communities. It is only fair that they are compensated for their hard work and dedication,” he said.


The payment will cover the outstanding salaries for the past nine months and is set to be disbursed promptly, starting from the end of this month. The state government has also assured the workers that mechanisms are being put in place to prevent further delays in future salary payments.
