A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has today granted bail to Abraham Daniel, the former pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, and Peter Enenche, both of whom were arrested on charges related to alleged financial misconduct and fraud involving the church’s resources.

The court, presided over by Justice John Okeke, approved the N2 million bail for each of the accused, under strict conditions that aim to ensure their appearance in future hearings and prevent flight risk. The two individuals were charged with embezzlement and conspiracy, after a series of investigations revealed substantial mismanagement of church funds.

In addition to the N2 million bail, the conditions imposed by the court require the accused to surrender their passports to the court, report to the nearest police station every week, and provide a reliable surety who will be held liable in the event that the accused fail to meet their obligations.

The bail decision comes after lengthy deliberations in which the prosecution and defense presented their arguments. While the prosecution argued that the accused should remain in custody due to the severity of the charges, the defense team contended that both Abraham Daniel and Peter Enenche were entitled to bail, with the necessary assurances given.

Legal experts suggest that the case is likely to attract significant attention, as the Dunamis Church has long been one of the largest and most influential congregations in Nigeria, with a massive following both locally and internationally.
