The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has called for a full, transparent investigation into the recent claims made by Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and Presidential candidate, regarding an alleged N50 million financial gift from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to opposition parties.
In a statement issued earlier today, the PRP vehemently denied any involvement in receiving such a gift. The party stressed that it has always operated with the highest ethical standards and has never engaged in any form of financial transactions aimed at compromising its independence or political integrity.
“We find Atiku Abubakar’s allegations to be serious and deserving of thorough investigation. If such a claim is true, it calls into question the integrity of the political process and the principles of fair competition in our democratic system,” said PRP’s National Chairman, Malam Sani Yusuf. “We stand by our commitment to transparency, accountability, and the well-being of our people. We categorically deny any participation in receiving or soliciting financial support from President Tinubu or any other political figure.”
The PRP emphasized the importance of maintaining a free and fair political environment, where parties and candidates can operate without external interference or the manipulation of resources. As such, the party is urging relevant authorities, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to immediately investigate the allegations to determine their veracity and take appropriate action where necessary.
“We believe that all political actors must be held to account for their actions, particularly when it involves the misuse of financial resources that can undermine the integrity of our democracy,” Yusuf added. “Until an official inquiry is conducted, we remain committed to the principles of truth and fairness in all our engagements.”
