The Nigerian Government has expressed readiness to support and welcome its citizens who were deported from the United States during the tenure of the Trump administration. The National Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) made this announcement in response to the recent developments surrounding the return of Nigerian migrants.
In a statement released earlier today, NiDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, reassured the public that Nigeria’s government has made significant preparations to ensure the smooth reintegration of these deportees back into the country.
“We understand the hardships and challenges many Nigerians faced during their time in the United States, and we are committed to providing necessary support for their successful reintegration. Nigeria is prepared to offer assistance in the form of job opportunities, vocational training, and government welfare programs to ease the transition process,” Dabiri-Erewa said.
NiDCOM emphasized that a comprehensive support framework has been established in collaboration with relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and local government authorities, to help reintegrate deported Nigerians back into the fabric of society.
The commission further stressed that the Nigerian government will prioritize the welfare and well-being of all deportees, ensuring they have access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and social support systems.
