The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to officially unveil Éric Sékou Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles on Monday, January 13, 2025. This announcement marks a significant step in the NFF's strategy to revitalize the national team ahead of upcoming competitions.

Chelle, who previously managed the Mali national team, was appointed following a recommendation from the NFF's Technical and Development Sub-Committee. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the Super Eagles prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with their first matches scheduled against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.

Born on November 11, 1977, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Chelle brings a wealth of experience both as a player and coach. He enjoyed a successful playing career in France, representing clubs such as Valenciennes and RC Lens before transitioning to coaching. His most notable achievement came during his tenure with the Mali national team, where he led them to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The NFF has expressed confidence in Chelle's ability to steer the Super Eagles back on course after a challenging qualifying campaign. Currently sitting fifth in Group C with only three points from four matches, the team faces an uphill battle to secure a spot in the World Cup.
