The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has today presented four additional witnesses in the ongoing trial of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, who is facing charges related to a N33 billion fraud case.
The witnesses, whose testimonies are expected to provide crucial evidence regarding the alleged mismanagement of public funds, appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where the case is being heard. The prosecution team, led by the EFCC, continues to build its case against Mamman, who served as Minister of Power under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The four witnesses, all government officials and experts with knowledge of the relevant financial transactions, provided detailed accounts of how funds earmarked for power sector projects were allegedly diverted and misappropriated under Mamman’s leadership. These witnesses are expected to corroborate earlier testimonies presented by the EFCC in a bid to establish a pattern of corruption and financial misconduct.
In response, Mamman, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, maintains his innocence and insists that all transactions were legitimate and in line with government policy. His defense team is expected to cross-examine the witnesses in the coming sessions.
