The Delta State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed as baseless and malicious the rumors surrounding the alleged defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement released today, the Delta PDP vehemently rejected the claims, calling them a desperate and futile attempt by the APC to destabilize the state’s political atmosphere.
The party reiterated its full confidence in Governor Oborevwori’s unwavering commitment to the PDP and his leadership of Delta State. According to the Delta PDP, such rumors are part of a calculated smear campaign orchestrated by opposition forces seeking to distract from their own internal struggles and lack of vision for the future of the state.
"The APC’s orchestrated smear campaign is nothing more than a desperate attempt to create confusion and uncertainty in Delta State. Governor Oborevwori remains steadfast in his dedication to the progress of our great state, and there is no truth to the claims of his defection," said the PDP’s spokesperson.
The statement also emphasized that Governor Oborevwori’s focus remains on delivering key initiatives that enhance the well-being of Deltans, including improving infrastructure, creating jobs, and promoting economic development.
