In a bold move reflecting unwavering support for President Donald Trump, Congressman Andy Ogles (R-TN) has introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives aimed at amending the U.S. Constitution to permit a president to serve up to three terms in office. This proposal seeks to revise the existing 22nd Amendment, which currently restricts presidents to two elected terms.
The resolution stipulates that while a president may serve three terms, they cannot hold office for more than two consecutive terms. This amendment would pave the way for President Trump to potentially run for office again, should he choose to do so.
Congressman Ogles stated, “President Trump has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness. He must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal.” He emphasized that this amendment is crucial for sustaining the bold leadership that the nation desperately needs.
The proposed amendment articulates, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor shall anyone be elected for any additional term after serving two consecutive terms.”
Ogles further noted that the current political landscape necessitates decisive leadership, contrasting Trump’s past administration with what he describes as the “chaos and economic decline” experienced under the Biden administration.
While this proposal has sparked significant discussion within political circles, it faces an uphill battle. To amend the Constitution, the resolution requires approval from two-thirds of both chambers of Congress and ratification by three-fourths of state legislatures an arduous process that many analysts believe is unlikely given the current political dynamics.
