The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed a scheduled partial blackout in Abuja, the nation's capital, for a duration of two days due to essential maintenance work on critical infrastructure. The planned outage is set to begin on December 29, 2024, and will last until December 30, 2024.
The TCN has stated that the blackout is necessary to carry out routine maintenance and upgrades to improve the reliability of the transmission network in the region. The maintenance will involve repairs and system checks to ensure continued efficiency and service quality in the long term.
During this period, certain areas in Abuja will experience intermittent power cuts. The company has urged residents and businesses in affected zones to prepare for the disruption and make necessary arrangements to minimize the impact. TCN has assured the public that all efforts are being made to ensure that the maintenance work is completed swiftly and safely, with minimal inconvenience to consumers.
“We understand the impact of power interruptions on the daily lives of our customers, and we appreciate their understanding and cooperation as we undertake this essential maintenance,” said a representative of the TCN. “This is a proactive measure to enhance the capacity and stability of the transmission network, which will ultimately benefit all users.”
