Former federal legislator Shehu Sani has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu regarding his recent comments on military spending during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Sani asserts that the decision not to investigate these expenditures effectively rewards corruption and undermines accountability in governance.

In a media appearance, Sani criticized President Tinubu's stance, which he articulated during a recent chat, where he expressed a lack of interest in probing past military expenditures. Sani emphasized that this approach sends a troubling message about the government's commitment to fighting corruption.

Sani argues that failing to investigate past military spending allows corrupt practices to flourish unchallenged. He stated, “Not probing these expenditures is tantamount to endorsing corruption and larceny within our military and governmental structures.”

The former lawmaker highlighted the significant financial resources allocated to military operations under Buhari's administration, questioning the effectiveness and transparency of their utilization. He urged the current administration to prioritize accountability and ensure that taxpayers' money is used judiciously.

Sani warned that neglecting to scrutinize past military spending could have dire consequences for national security. He stressed that understanding how funds were spent is crucial for assessing the current state of Nigeria's defense capabilities.
