The Nigeria Police Force has issued a strong warning regarding the illegal activities of certain officers who are misusing the name and authority of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun. These unscrupulous individuals have been implicated in acts of extortion and intimidation, falsely claiming to have the IGP's backing to carry out their nefarious activities.

In a statement released today, the police emphasized the importance of public vigilance and encouraged citizens to report any incidents where officers attempt to exploit the IGP's name for fraudulent purposes. The police highlighted that such actions not only undermine the integrity of the force but also erode public trust in law enforcement.

The IGP has condemned these practices, stating that any officer found guilty of leveraging his name for illegal activities will face severe disciplinary action. He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity among its ranks.

"The misuse of my name for corrupt practices is unacceptable and criminal," said IGP Egbetokun. "We are taking decisive steps to address this issue and restore public confidence in our operations. I urge all Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities involving police officers."

The police have established several internal monitoring units, including the IGP X-Squad and Complaint Response Unit (CRU), tasked with investigating reports of misconduct. Citizens are encouraged to provide detailed information about any incidents of extortion or fraudulent activity involving police personnel.
