The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully secured the conviction of 12 drug peddlers in Kano, following their involvement in illicit drug trafficking and abuse. This landmark achievement underscores the Agency’s relentless commitment to combating the growing drug menace and ensuring the safety and well-being of Nigerians.

The 12 convicted individuals were apprehended in various operations carried out by NDLEA’s Kano State Command over the past several months. They were found guilty of trafficking in hard drugs, including cannabis sativa, methamphetamine, and other substances that have been identified as significant contributors to the increasing rates of substance abuse and criminal activity in the region.

In his remarks, the NDLEA’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), commended the Kano State Command for their diligence and teamwork, stating, “This conviction is a testament to the tireless efforts of our officers on the frontlines. It reflects our strategic focus on dismantling drug syndicates and eradicating drug abuse in every community. NDLEA remains steadfast in its mission to protect the lives of Nigerians from the devastating effects of drug trafficking and substance misuse.”

The trial of the 12 drug offenders was conducted in accordance with Nigeria’s stringent drug control laws, ensuring that justice was served and a strong message sent to those involved in drug peddling. The convictions, which include both custodial sentences and fines, demonstrate the legal system’s robust stance against narcotics trafficking.
