In a significant move to bolster his administration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today swore in seven newly appointed ministers at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja. This ceremony follows their confirmation by the Nigerian Senate on November 1, 2024, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing reshuffling of the cabinet aimed at enhancing governance and implementing the Renewed Hope agenda.
Among the newly sworn-in ministers is Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who takes on the role of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Her appointment is particularly noteworthy as she brings a wealth of experience from her previous tenure as Nigeria's Ambassador to Spain.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted in two batches, with four ministers taking their oaths in the first group and three in the second. Each minister's citation was read by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the State House Director of Information, before they pledged their allegiance to serve the nation diligently.
President Tinubu emphasized that these appointments are part of his commitment to ensuring that Nigeria’s leadership is equipped with capable individuals who can effectively address the challenges facing the country. He noted that this reshuffle comes after a thorough review of ministerial performances, underscoring his administration's focus on accountability and results.
"This new cabinet is poised to drive our vision forward," President Tinubu stated during the ceremony. "I have confidence in their abilities to deliver on our promises to the Nigerian people."
The recent reshuffle also involved reassigning ten existing ministers to different portfolios and dismissing five others, reflecting a strategic effort to enhance operational efficiency within the government.
