In response to the recent devastating floods in Borno State, the Borno State Police Command has launched a comprehensive medical outreach to support affected residents. This initiative underscores the police’s commitment to community welfare and public safety.
The medical outreach, conducted at Mashimami Barracks in Maiduguri, aims to provide essential health services to over 500 residents, including vulnerable community members. The services offered include free medical consultations, health screenings (such as blood pressure, blood glucose, and malaria tests), distribution of medical supplies, and relief materials. Additionally, the outreach includes educational sessions on disaster risk reduction, prevention, response, hygiene, and sanitation.
The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, CP ML Yusufu, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Our goal is to ensure the health and well-being of both our personnel and the community members affected by the floods. This outreach is a testament to our dedication to public service and community engagement.”
The outreach program also highlights the humanitarian efforts of the National Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) President, Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun, who generously donated relief materials and medications to the flood victims. Dr. Egbetokun’s contributions have been instrumental in enhancing the scope and impact of the outreach.
The Borno State Police Command remains committed to ensuring public safety and encourages residents within the affected areas to take advantage of the free medical services provided through this outreach program.
