The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has officially called on residents of the South-East to disregard any sit-at-home order purportedly declared for October 21 and 22, asserting that this directive did not originate from the group.

In response to recent circulating videos and voice notes warning residents to stay indoors on these dates, IPOB's spokesman, Emma Powerful, emphasized that the order is a fabrication by criminal elements and infiltrators who do not represent the interests of IPOB. He stated, “IPOB did not declare any sit-at-home order on October 21 and 22. The illegal order is from criminal elements and Finland-based infiltrators who are not our members.”

The announcement comes amid growing panic and confusion in the region. Many residents have already begun to alter their plans, with court cases being rescheduled and schools announcing closures for safety reasons. Reports indicate that markets are experiencing a surge in last-minute transactions as people rush to prepare for what they fear may be enforced compliance with the sit-at-home directive.

Powerful reassured the public, saying, “We urge our people to go about their normal business on those days. IPOB does not want to talk about it because we don’t want to create panic over the matter.” He further clarified that IPOB has suspended any unnecessary sit-at-home orders in the past and will not impose hardship on its people.

The group has called upon community members to remain vigilant against any enforcers of this illegitimate order and to report such individuals immediately. “We call on Ndigbo to be very careful not to allow sponsored criminals hiding under Biafra agitation to destabilize our land,” Powerful added.

IPOB remains committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of the people in the South-East and encourages all residents to prioritize their safety and economic activities during this period.
