The Global Integrity and Civic Network (GICN), a prominent civic organisation, staged a peaceful protest today at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja. The demonstration aimed to draw attention to alleged fraudulent activities and foreign exchange manipulations by Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank).
The protesters, carrying placards and chanting slogans, called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the bank’s operations. They allege that GTBank has been involved in significant financial misconduct, including fraud and manipulation of foreign exchange rates, which have adversely affected the Nigerian economy and its citizens.
GICN demands that the National Assembly initiate a full-scale investigation into the alleged fraudulent activities and forex manipulations by GTBank.
The organisation calls for greater transparency in the banking sector and stricter regulatory oversight to prevent future occurrences of such malpractices.
GICN urges the government to ensure that the interests of Nigerian citizens are safeguarded and that those found guilty of financial misconduct are held accountable.
“We are here today to demand justice and accountability. The alleged actions of GTBank have caused significant harm to our economy and the livelihoods of many Nigerians. It is imperative that the National Assembly takes immediate action to investigate these claims and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice,” said [Name], spokesperson for GICN.
The protest at the National Assembly Complex marks a significant step in GICN’s ongoing efforts to promote integrity and accountability within Nigeria’s financial institutions. The organisation has vowed to continue its advocacy until their demands are met and justice is served.
