The Jigawa State Government has officially suspended Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties, following serious allegations of adultery that have surfaced in recent days. The decision comes after reports indicated that Sankara was detained by the Kano State Hisbah Board for allegedly engaging in an illicit affair with a married woman.
The allegations gained traction when the Hisbah Board confirmed Sankara's arrest in an uncompleted building alongside the woman, identified as Tasleem Baba Nabegu. The incident reportedly followed a complaint lodged by the woman's brother-in-law, which accused Sankara of improper conduct.
In a statement issued late Friday, Sankara vehemently denied the allegations, describing them as "false, baseless, and malicious." He asserted that these claims were part of a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation and undermine his position within the state government.
"I urge the general public to disregard this fabricated story concocted by certain political elements aimed at damaging my character and integrity," Sankara stated. He further emphasized his commitment to the values of marriage and announced his intention to pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading what he termed false information.
The Jigawa State Government is currently reviewing the situation and will take appropriate measures based on the ongoing investigations. In light of these developments, officials are urging the public to remain calm and allow due process to unfold.
