After the announcement of the winner of the presidential election, the Labour Party (LP) has engaged the services of at least  20 Senior Advocates of Nigeria  (SAN) to challenge the victory of the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 25 February 2023 presidential election by polling 8,794,726 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who polled 6,984,520 and the LP flag bearer, Mr. Peter Obi polled 6,101,533 votes.

However, the PDP and the LP candidates rejected the outcome of the results announced by INEC.

It was said that LP had drawn lawyers from different chambers and were being furnished with some materials that can aid their victory in court.

The National Secretary of the Labour Party, Umar Farouk said:

“We have more than 20 SANs that are willing to participate and offer their services for the renewal and emergence of a new Nigeria. As I am talking to you, our lawyers are working on it.

“But this is not something we can discuss on the pages of a newspaper. All I can tell you is that we have started ‘trekking’ to the court."
