The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Engr. Seyi Makinde the PDP’s governorship candidate, as winner of March 18 governorship election in Oyo State.
Makinde won in 31 Local Government Areas of the state while Folarin won the remaining 2 Local Governments.
Governor Seyi Makinde polled a total number of 563,756 votes to defeat his close associate, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Teslim Folarin, who polled 256,685.
The State Collation Officer, Prof. Adebayo Simeon, who is also the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, declared Engr. Seyi Makinde as the winner having satisfied the electoral act.
“That Makinde Oluseyi Abiodun of the PDP, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected by the Returning Officer, Prof Adebayo Simeon on this day 19th of March 2023.”
