Some of the chieftains of Peoples Democratic Party, and prominent members of the party were seen on Wednesday, campaigned for the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Supporters from across the state and its region were seen on major streets in metropolitan area of Oyo State capital marching with different kinds of banners and campaigning for Alhaji Atiku ahead of the 25 February, 2023, presidential election.
Sadly, the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and other G5 Governors were obviously absent at the mega rally held in the state capital to gather electorate poll for the former vice president.
Sunford Express gathered that the PDP G5 governors are Governor Nyesom Wike of River State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Engr. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, who were all present in Oyo State to campaign for Engr Seyi Makinde ahead of his reelection as governor of the state on Thursday (today).
This hullabaloo was over the alleged refusal of Alhaji Atiku to triumph over the Party National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, to resign after Atiku from the northern state emerged the winner of the presidential ticket of the party. This made the G5 Governors and some political titans separated themselves from the PDP presidential candidate.
