Sunford Express gathered that this communal clash erupted on Tuesday evening following an impending abrupt between two rival youth groups at a carnival around Okoja and Okeigbe general area of the town, which later led to gunshots firing and burning of houses.
It was reported that the house of a prominent indigene of the town and a retired Principal, popularly known as Olokugboye was burnt down and some citizens were reported dead following the clash.
The curfew imposed by the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, was announced in a media statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Mr. Richard Olabode.
It read;
“Security agencies have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order just as investigations are already on to unravel the real cause(s) of the violent clash.
“For emphasis, Ikare-Akoko has been closed down for any unauthorized human movement and activity until further notice.”
