President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Hon. Kayode Oladele as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), following the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past Chairperson, Dr. Muheebah Dankaka.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was confirmed after the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, issued a formal directive acknowledging the conclusion of Dr. Dankaka’s tenure on June 1, 2025. The directive emphasized the need for a seamless transition and uninterrupted operations within the Commission, in line with public service protocols.

Hon. Oladele, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Yewa-North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency of Ogun State, is a seasoned legal practitioner and human rights advocate. He previously served as Chairman of the House Committee on Financial Crimes and has held several strategic roles in public service, including Chief of Staff at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Widely recognized for his integrity, intellectual depth, and commitment to justice, Oladele’s appointment has been met with commendation from various quarters, including the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, which described him as “a detribalised Nigerian and social crusader of impeccable character.”

The Federal Character Commission plays a pivotal role in promoting equitable representation of Nigeria’s diverse population in public institutions. As Acting Chairman, Hon. Oladele is expected to steer the Commission’s constitutional mandate with renewed vigor and uphold the principles of fairness and national cohesion.
