The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a bold ultimatum to the Federal Government, calling for the immediate release of the long-suppressed forensic audit report on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Speaking during a live interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike declared that he would resign from his ministerial position if the report fails to substantiate his allegations against former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and his wife, Judith Amaechi.

Wike alleged that a company linked to Mrs. Amaechi received ₦4 billion monthly from the NDDC under the guise of training women in the Niger Delta, amounting to ₦48 billion annually. He claimed this transaction is documented in the forensic audit report, which was commissioned under former President Muhammadu Buhari but has yet to be made public.

“Let Mr. President please do us a favour and release that document. If what I am saying is not in the document, I will resign as Minister of the FCT. I don’t worship office,” Wike stated emphatically.

The FCT Minister also accused former Attorney General Abubakar Malami of deliberately suppressing the audit findings to protect those implicated in financial misconduct at the NDDC.

This development follows a recent exchange of accusations between Wike and Amaechi, with the latter questioning Wike’s integrity and source of wealth. Wike responded by challenging Amaechi’s credibility and reiterating his call for transparency and accountability in public service.

The forensic audit, which reviewed NDDC operations from 2001 to 2019, was intended to expose systemic corruption and mismanagement within the Commission. Despite its completion and submission in 2021, the report remains unpublished, fueling public speculation and demands for disclosure.
