The Lagos State Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu has issued a landmark ruling in the inquest into the death of Nigerian music star, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi has recommended that auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe face criminal prosecution for her role in the tragic incident that claimed the life of the 26-year-old singer.

The coroner found that Ms. Ogedengbe, who administered a tetanus injection to Mohbad at his Lekki residence, was neither a registered nurse nor a licensed medical practitioner, and acted unlawfully and negligently. The injection reportedly triggered a severe reaction that led to Mohbad’s sudden death on September 12, 2023.

Magistrate Shotobi stated, “The actions of the nurse were both unlawful and professionally negligent. In accordance with Section 29 of the Coroner Laws of Lagos State, this court recommends that the Director of Public Prosecutions commence appropriate legal proceedings against Ms. Ogedengbe for gross medical negligence and unlawful medical practice.”
