A fresh wave of controversy has erupted within the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following allegations by party members that a sum of $50,000, reportedly earmarked for grassroots mobilization and party development, has been hijacked by a select group of leaders.

According to aggrieved members, the funds—believed to have been disbursed by national stakeholders to strengthen the party’s presence in the state—were allegedly diverted without transparency or accountability. The accusations have intensified existing tensions within the party, which has been grappling with internal divisions since the 2023 general elections.

“This is not just about money; it’s about trust and the future of our party in Delta State,” said a senior party official who requested anonymity. “We cannot continue to operate in secrecy while claiming to represent the people.”

The crisis adds to the already simmering leadership tussle between factions loyal to former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege and Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo. Recent efforts by the Olorogun O’tega Emerhor-led reconciliation committee to unify the party have been met with resistance, with some members rejecting its recommendations as unconstitutional and divisive.

Party insiders warn that unless the alleged misappropriation is addressed and internal grievances are resolved, the APC risks further fragmentation ahead of upcoming local government elections.

The Delta State APC leadership has yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations. However, calls are mounting for an independent audit and disciplinary action against those found culpable.
