Former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, has made a bold political statement, announcing her intention to actively campaign for Nigeria’s current First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking during a public event in Abuja on Saturday, Dame Jonathan emphasized that she has no plans to return to the Presidential Villa and expressed her unwavering support for the leadership and vision of Senator Tinubu.

“I will campaign with Remi Tinubu for the 2027 elections. I am not returning to the Presidential Villa,” said Dame Jonathan, addressing a gathering of women leaders and political stakeholders. “We must support women in leadership who are working for the unity and progress of Nigeria.”

This declaration marks a significant moment in Nigerian politics, as it underscores a growing solidarity among influential female leaders in the country. Dame Jonathan, who served as First Lady from 2010 to 2015, praised Senator Tinubu’s advocacy for women’s empowerment, education, and national development.

The former First Lady’s endorsement is expected to galvanize support from grassroots movements and women’s groups nationwide. Political analysts view her statement as a strategic alignment that could reshape alliances ahead of the next presidential election.
