The Government of Pakistan confirms that its Armed Forces launched a series of calibrated retaliatory strikes along India’s western border on May 9, 2025, in response to unprovoked Indian aggression that violated Pakistan’s territorial integrity and resulted in civilian casualties.

The targeted strikes were conducted against identified military positions and logistical infrastructure used to facilitate Indian cross-border attacks over the past 48 hours. The retaliatory actions were carried out with precision to minimize civilian harm while asserting Pakistan's right to self-defense under international law.

“Our response is a clear message: any act of aggression against Pakistan will be met with firm and proportionate retaliation,” said Major General Ahmed Sharif, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). “We have no desire for escalation, but we are fully prepared to defend our sovereignty.”

The strikes follow escalating tensions in the region, with recent Indian air and artillery operations causing civilian casualties in areas near the Line of Control and the international border. Pakistani authorities have documented damage to civilian infrastructure and loss of innocent lives, which prompted the retaliatory measures.
